The earliest record of Kiryu silk can be found in the Shoku Nihongi, which notes that it was presented to the Imperial Court as a form of tax tribute in 714. In the Meiji era, Kiryu flourished as a leading center of the textile industry, introducing the most advanced weaving machines of the time. Today, we produce a wide range of textiles, including obi, kimono fabrics, ties, women’s apparel fabrics, and interior materials.
