Key Features
Matsudo City in Chiba Prefecture has been famous for pear cultivation since the Meiji era and is known as the birthplace of the Nijisseiki (20th Century) pear. Popular varieties like Kosui and Hosui are its descendants. “Matsudo Pears” are allowed to fully ripen on the tree before harvest. Mostly sold directly or through pick-your-own farms, they are rarely seen in stores. Each bite offers rich aroma, sweetness, and refreshing juiciness.
